Who does not love chocolate? What if you could make irresistible chocolate at home in just 10 minutes? Definitely way better than buying off the shelf.
I am addicted to Nutella. Ever since tasting it first, it has been hard to resist and stay away from. I have finished 200 gm jars in just one sitting. Cozy up on your sofa, dig in, lick off the fingers. Here is homemade chocolate that tastes just like Nutella, only the texture is different. So what? You can eat it without worrying what has gone into it. Simple, easy to make, yummy, and diary-free! Hazelnuts are not native to India but now they are available in most city supermarkets.
Ingredients:
Hazelnuts – 1/2 cup
Cocoa powder – 2 tbsp
Sugar powder – 1/4 cup (adjust to taste)
Vanilla extract – 1/2 tsp
Vegetable oil – 1 tsp
Soy milk – 2 tbsp
Preparation time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 5 mins
Makes 8 chocolate marbles
Method:
Dry roast the hazelnuts in a thick iron wok, stirring continuously in slow fire. Ensure they don’t get brown or burnt. In about 5-7 mins, oil starts seeping from the nuts and start glistening. Turn off the fire and let it cool. Pulse the hazelnuts in a mixer until finely powdered. Add sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract and pulse again until smooth. Add milk and oil and pulse again. (I used coconut oil. You can use any subtle-flavored vegetable oil). You will notice oil seeping from the mixture. Transfer to a bowl and make small marble-sized balls. Serve as is or cold.
Notes: When you pulse the hazelnut along with the other ingredients, a lot of oil seeps from the nuts. You may remove this oil and use it while making any other sweet.
